Helping a growing Surrey Community

Dave Hayer invites you to explore just a few of the many government initiatives that your BC Liberal government has been putting
together for British Columbians. Since he was first elected in 2001, Dave Hayer has been working hard on your behalf to help with bringing issues of concern to the attention of government.

Please take a few moments to learn about these new and exciting initiatives that Dave has helped bring to Surrey - Tynehead communities!

The new Port Mann Bridge Replacement Project is a major initative of Premier Campbell and the BC Liberals. Announced in February, the project will replace the existing Port Mann Bridge which opened 45 years ago, with a new 10-lane span, featuring three divided through-lanes and two outside lanes each way.
The new bridge will also accomodate rapid transit, a key component of the Gateway Project. When completed in December 2012,  the project will feature improved interchanges and HOV lanes from Grandview Highway in Vancouver to Langley. More than 8000 construction jobs are expected to be created in its construction providing much needed economic activity and providing much-needed economic actiivity for contractors and suppliers in Surrey and throughout the Lower Mainland.

The Surrey Memorial Hospital's new Emergency Department and Critical Care Tower will bring much needed additional capacity to the heavily used hospital. Working with SMH and the provincial government, Dave had worked diligently to bring this much-needed expansion to Surrey. Construction, creating some 3,750 jobs,  is scheduled to begin in 2010. The project will feature a new two-storey emergency department, five times the size of the current facility. As well, the new addition will provide 48 neonatal heath care beds, 85 in-patient beds, expand the current academic clinic space for instruction, include a rooftop helipad for medivac helicopters and will have two level below ground laboratory space and plus parking.  This huge new addition, as well as vastly increasing health care service to Surrey residents, will further enhance Surrey Memorial's role as a major regional hospital on the Lower Mainland.

Surrey's newest hospital is designed primarily for out-patient care and is already under construction. This exceptional addition to health care opportunities for Surrey residents began late last year, and will provide much quicker and easier access to patients requiring day surgery, diagnostic imaging, and primary health care. The new facility is being built on Fraser Highway at 140th Street
